Final Painting Workshop at Sedbergh CDC – 2016

watercolorExperimental Watercolour Workshop

3rd December 2016, 10.00 – 16.00, People’s Hall, Howgill Lane, Sedbergh, LA10 5DE, cost £36, tel 015396 21031.

We experiment with texture, pattern, and effects with salt, cling film etc. to create interesting watercolour surfaces – learning to apply these fun things in more serious work but also learning through play and experiment how to handle this demanding medium. We will also cover use of washes, wet in wet painting and other aspects of watercolour work. The workshop will free up experienced painters and be a good starting point for novices.

Painting Courses at Higham Hall – 2017

higham2I am teaching two and three day painting courses at Higham Hall in 2017. Additional details are on the artist’s information page at Higham.

Ink and Wash: 17th to 19th January 2017. Still life, illustrative and landscape methods ranging from flat graphic methods to free expressive work. Exploring different illustrative styles and work by different artists. (A1701FW)

Shore, Lake and River: 21st to 24th March 2017. Expressive painting techniques using Gesso, rags and card as well as brushes. Exploring paint surface using smooth, fine, impasto and textured techniques. (A1703FW)

Colour and Contrast: 27th to 30th April 2017. Using colour theories, the colour wheel and colour experiments with complementary colours , we create work both abstract and representational. Working with contrast to create subtle, or strong pieces, and studying emotional atmosphere to create drama and emotion. We study work by significant artists using colour and contrast.  (A1704FW)

Art Weekend with Frances Winder: 21st to 23rd July 2017. Watercolour, Gouache and acrylic paint are used with Gesso, you can choose to focus on one, but all are shown. We also use rags and palette knife techniques with acrylic paint to achieve bold or subtle techniques, good for the beginner or for the expert to recharge. (A1707FW)

Painting Course at the Finca el Cerrillo, Spain – 2017

fincaEach year I teach a spring painting course at the wonderfully restored 200 year-old farmhouse in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara. The next course is from 1st to 8th April, 2017, however there are no places left.

The 2017 cost was £850 for a shared room or £975 for a single room, which includes full board accommodation and transport to and from Malaga airport, as well as the course itself. We have not yet committed to running a course in 2018, but if we do, the cost would probably be higher due to the Brexit devaluation of sterling.
